Make your Apple Watch control your thermostat

Apple Watch tracks your sleep stages, heart rate, and wrist temperature. CircadiaOS uses that data to run a temperature schedule on your thermostat that adjusts from your nights.

Can Apple Watch control my thermostat? Not on its own. Apple Watch has no direct thermostat integration for sleep. HomeKit can set a scene at bedtime, but that is still one temperature all night. CircadiaOS reads your Apple Watch sleep data through Apple Health and sends a four-phase overnight schedule to your thermostat, refining it from your nights on Premium.

Your watch tracks, then nothing changes

Apple Watch records sleep stages, heart rate, respiratory rate, and wrist temperature every night. In the morning, you see the data in the Health app. Then you go to bed tonight in the same room at the same temperature. The data never reaches the thermostat. CircadiaOS closes that loop.

What about HomeKit?

If you have a HomeKit-compatible thermostat, you can create a "Bedtime" scene that sets a target temperature when your sleep focus activates. That is a single hold — one number from bedtime to morning. It does not cool the room further for deep sleep, does not warm it before your alarm, and does not change based on how you actually slept. It is the same limitation every smart thermostat has on its own.

Three steps, about five minutes

  1. Connect Apple Watch. CircadiaOS reads your sleep data through Apple Health on your iPhone. You authorize the connection once in the CircadiaOS app, and it reads your nightly sleep stages, heart rate, HRV, respiratory rate, and wrist temperature after each night.
  2. Connect your thermostat. Sign into your ecobee, Honeywell Home, Google Nest, or Sensi account. CircadiaOS supports 15+ thermostats. Full list.
  3. Let it run. Tonight your thermostat follows a four-phase temperature curve built from your profile. On Premium, after 14 nights of calibration, CircadiaOS starts adjusting one setpoint at a time and holds each change for about one to two weeks, keeping only the changes your Apple Watch data supports.

Data points used

Apple Watch provides sleep stages (awake, REM, core, deep), heart rate and HRV, respiratory rate, and wrist temperature. On Apple Watch Series 8 and later, the wrist temperature sensor adds a signal that helps CircadiaOS detect how room temperature is affecting your body overnight.

Apple Health integration

CircadiaOS reads from Apple Health, so any data your watch writes to Health is available — including sleep data from third-party apps that sync to Health. You do not need to wear the watch during the day for CircadiaOS; only the overnight sleep session matters.
